Wolfville: Elderkin’s Farm Market, Bakery, & U-Pick
Just outside Wolfville, Elderkin’s Farm Market, Bakery, & U-Pick is one of a string of farm markets, each with their specialties.
A Legacy Rooted in Tradition
Established in 1760, Elderkin’s Farm has been family-owned for generations, cultivating a rich heritage of farming excellence. Today, Peter and Sharlene Elderkin, along with their son Aaron and daughter-in-law Carolyn, continue this legacy.

The Scratch Bakery: A Taste of Home
Elderkin’s scratch bakery is a haven for those craving homestyle baked goods. Their baked goods are prepared fresh daily using local ingredients, ensuring quality and flavor in every bite. From hearty oat molasses bread to delectable fruit pies, the bakery offers a variety of treats that evoke the comfort of home.

Farm-Fresh Freezer Favorites
Beyond the bakery, Elderkin’s market features a selection of freezer-ready items perfect for convenient, wholesome meals. Their brown baked beans, slow-cooked to perfection, are a local favorite, offering a taste of traditional Nova Scotian cuisine. These ready-to-heat options provide the comfort of home cooking without the prep time.

Their famous ice cream cakes are better than Dairy Queen, in my opinion. And of course, no self-respecting farm market would be without an ice cream counter in the summer, and Elderkin’s has a small but excellent selection of cones.
Elderkin’s U-Pick experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in the agricultural bounty of the Annapolis Valley. Depending on the season, you can pick your own strawberries, cherries, apples, and even sunflowers. This hands-on activity is perfect for families, couples, and anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy the freshest produce possible.
Crafting Cider: From Orchard to Bottle
Since 2000, Elderkin’s has been producing their own line of hard apple ciders, utilizing apples harvested directly from their orchards. Their cider offerings include traditional blends as well as unique flavors like maple, crabapple, and apple strawberry. Each bottle reflects the farm’s commitment to quality and the rich apple-growing heritage of the region.
